Chairperson: Ciaran Torrington
Has lived in the Far North since 1992 and has worked within the Kaitaia Health sector since 1999 in ambulance aid, mental health rehabilitation, aged care, research interviewing and as a counsellor. She is an ACC Sexual Abuse Therapist and Assessor. She has a Masters in Psychology, Diploma in Counselling, Diploma in Applied Mental Health, National Certificate in Ambulance Aid and Certificate in Te Reo Maori. She is a Member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors, Pacific Womens Watch and BPW. Ciaran has developed a Trauma Informed Whare Tap Wha approach from within the Kaitaia community that helps lift trauma survivors out of poverty.

Ciaran is a Registered Psychologist who specialises in trauma working with ACC Sexual Abuse and Physical Injury clients in the Kaitaia area. She has spent her whole life around trauma survivors advocating and supporting their healing. She has lived in the Far North since 1992 and has worked within the Kaitaia Health sector since 1999. Ciaran advocates for a Trauma Informed Te Whare Tapa Wha approach that helps support trauma survivors to heal and developed the concept Te Wairua O Tika to support suvivor's to find their voice through reporting to police and convicting offenders.


Advisory Board Member: Mary Wikaira
Mary Wikaira is of Nga Puhi, Te Rarawa and Tainui descent she was born in Auckland before returning to Mangamuka as a child and has lived most of her life in the Far North. Mary is a Maori therapist who accepts the responsibility of being a role model to her people that she hopes will inspire wahine (woman). She has worked in Alcohol & Drug and Sexual Abuse Counselling since the 1980’s. Mary has a passion for mentorship and tikanga, and advocates that healing is about the wairua (spirit) and being tika(right) Mary is a survivor of sexual abuse herself and understand’s the importance of standing up in her community.
Treasurer: Steve Torrington
Steve has lived with in the Far North since 1992. He is an experienced business owner and background in horticulture. He loves the Far North land and cares for his 6 acre rural lifestyle block. He was one of the first people in NZ to successfully fight and prove pesticide poisoning and to receive ACC compensation. As a consequence of these life challenges Steve developed a strong passion for advocacy and human rights blended with his unique style of non-conformity.
Board Member: Pam Harrison-Boyd
Pam Harrison-Boyd is known for her sense of humor and passion to help others. She is a adult survivor of child abuse and she says this why I do what I do. She is a Priest and works as the Prison Chaplain at Nga Wha Prison. She also has a Bachelor of Creative Industries. Pam says she became part of HEALnz because she is excited about their future to bring change.
